To prevent blisters caused from friction you should ensure that your shoes fit correctly and aren’t too loose or tight. Having shoes that are too small or big will cause blisters on the back of your feet and the sides of your feet. You will begin to feel lots of pain when you develop blisters due to wearing small or large footwear. If you need to wear work boots then you should ideally find thick socks to wear to prevent blisters in the back of the foot. You can also apply creams to the back of your feet to help cushion them from the footwear.

Once people realize that they have a blister the most common issue is not knowing what to do. Do I pop the blister or do I leave it alone? There are those who say a blister should not be popped because it can get infected. Other people say pop a blister as soon as it forms otherwise it will keep getting bigger. If tight shoes or wayward hose are not causing your blisters, consider consulting a foot specialist. High or fallen arches can cause blisters. So can a Charlie Chaplin gait, walking with your feet turned outward. To help correct the foot problem and prevent future blisters, a podiatrist may prescribe orthotics, corrective devices that fit in your shoes.
