Ointments are low in water content and stay on the surface of the skin for a longer time, so constant applications are not required. Applying only a little ointment from time to time will also reduce the sticky residue.
Bathe in warm,not hot,water; avoid the use of sponges, washcloths, or loofahs; soap sparingly at the very end of the bath; use fragrance-less moisturizer before drying off; pat skin dry, do not rub.
Excema Treatment: Itch Relief
Antihistimines ease itching during an excema eruption. Capsaicin counteracts the itching by reducing the body’s itch signals. Other agents,particularly those with menthol, also behave similarly .
Excema Treatments: Corticosteroids
This excema treatment combats dermatitis and other skin problems but the results are dependant on the age of the patient. It can also have many undesirable side effects.

Prolonged application causes the skin to become thin and fragile. This condition might allow excema to be exarcerbated.
Excessive use of steroids will eventually cause bones to weaken.
