Treating Ringworm and other Fungal Conditions by Frank Buonanotte
Ringworm is a skin infection that looks like a red or brown, circular lesion. Ringworm can appear lighter in the center which makes it look like a ring. Despite its name, ringworm is not caused by a worm. It’s caused by fungal parasites and can exist anywhere on the skin. Fungi are microorganisms that survive by feeding on skin tissue, hair and nails. Statistics indicate that about 20% of the population has ringworm or some type of fungal condition at any given time.
Eliminating fungal infections can be difficult and extremely frustrating. Sometimes, ringworm can be misdiagnosed as eczema or other forms of dermatitis. Either way, research has indicated that a particular type of honey known as “Manuka Honey” is effective in treating these conditions. Since fungi are microorganisms, the antibacterial and antimicrobial properties present in Manuka Honey get right to work at destroying these microorganisms. In addition, Manuka Honey has been proven to have very powerful antifungal properties, making it an ideal substance to treat fungal infections.
