8 Natural Home Remedies for Eczema by zechong cai
Eczema is commonly called vicharchika in traditional ayurvedic medicine. The main reason behind the occurrence of this disease is due to the loss of moisture in your skin. This condition makes it highly vulnerable to several viruses and bacteria, which might worsen the condition. However, you don’t have to worry! Below I am going to share some tips with you on how to cure eczema.
1. When you are suffering from a very itchy eczema rash, you should first and foremost avoid scratching. I know it is very difficult to stop yourself from scratching or stop a child suffering from itchy eczema from doing so, but you need to do so. You can apply some Benadryl to help control the irritability and itchy feeling. You can apply a damp dressings to control severe itching.
2. White Oak Bark – Compress
1-2 tablespoon oak bark (cut into little pieces), boil it with 1/2 L water for 10-15 minutes, let it cool off. Use a piece of linen or mull compress and soak it with the liquid, press it and wrap it around the affected body parts. 3 times daily 1-2 hours.
3. One of the better treatments is oatmeal. That’s right plain oatmeal can give you relief from the pain, swelling, itchy skin that you experience with eczema. If you only have a small patch of eczema you can follow the directions on the package and when the oatmeal cools apply it to the affected area. If your problem is on a larger scale, you can add a cup or two of oatmeal to your bathwater and soak for thirty minutes.
4. The best way to deal with eczema is to cleanse the blood and the body. The sufferer should get as much or fresh air as possible. Dwellers of airless streets in a city slum should migrate to the open spaces of the villages and let fresh air resuscitate their system. Restrictive clothing should be given up.
5. Also oral histamines taken at night help you get drowsy and fall asleep, thus taking your mind off the itchy eczema for sometime at least. You can even apply capsaicin that will act as a counter irritant and hydrocortisone applied on the skin will help giving you some temporary itch relief.
6. Common Mallow – Compress
2-3 tablespoon leaves or blossom on 1 L water, boil it for 1 minute, let it soak for 20 minutes and cool off. Make compresses as above with oak bark.
7. Chamomile is another soothing remedy that people like. You can purchase a chamomile lotion or you can use the tea form. When using the tea you would steep the tea bags and then place them on the painful area. This gives relief from the swelling and the dryness and itching.
8. Two to three litres of the water should be taken daily and the patient must bathe twice to thrice in the day. The skin should be vigorously rubbed with the palms of the hands before taking a bath. All the parts of the body should be thoroughly wetted and rubbed to such and extent that the towel is not needed to dry the skin. The site of eczema should, of course, be spread the rubbing.
