The winter season can be very hard on our skin. Cold weather combined with low humidity and dry indoor heat tend to remove the moisture from skin and leave it in a dry flaky condition. As winter gets closer, we notice that our skin starts to dry out and this can give us that annoying feeling of itchy irritated skin. This time of year really takes a heavy toll on our skin, especially if we are still recuperating from the damage that was done during the summer months. It may be necessary to change your skin care routine during this time of the year. There are steps that you can take to help your skin feel more comfortable when the air is dry and the weather is cold. You need to make sure that your skin is hydrated from within your body and you can do this by drinking plenty of water. It is a good practice to carry your water bottle with you when you leave the house and that way, you will be able to drink while you are on the go.

When it is really cold , drink herbal tea as this is great for your skin as it gives it a healthy glow. The air inside your home becomes extremely dry during the winter because everything is sealed off and the windows are all shut and this aggravates the dehydration and itching of eczema and makes this condition worse. You should run a humidifier to put moisture in the air. Also, make sure to use an oil based moisturizer on your skin as that will help prevent moisture loss. A wise choice is one that comes in an ointment form that contains 80% oil. If you use creams and lotions, be careful as they may dry skin out more then they moisturize it. Dead skin cells should be removed from your skin by using a scrub and facial exfoliate. This should be added weekly to your cleansing routine.
