Can Fish Oil Give Beautiful Skin? by Larry Taylor
Can fish oil give beautiful facial skin? Studies have said yes. What make fish oil so good for the skin and for our health?
Some people are skeptical about the benefits of increasing our intake of omega-3 fatty acids. Scientists are trying to explain exactly why a single nutrient would be so important to our health. They have many theories. Some are more unusual than others. For example, the âwater-dwelling ape theoryâ is a bit unusual.
But, regardless of how or why it happened, many of the bodyâs systems are dependent upon omega-3 fatty acids. Without them, we suffer from symptoms minor and serious.
Taking fish oil for facial skin dryness is one of the minor or less important benefits, but for someone that suffers from excessive dryness, it is very important. So, itâs all relative.
Having beautiful facial skin may seem like simply a matter of aesthetics. But, we know that a healthy, well-nourished body glows.
While there are a number of things that we donât understand about âwhyâ omega-3 fatty acids are so important, we do understand why they are important for moist, soft, healthy and beautiful facial skin. It has to do with the composition of sebum.
Sebum is the skinâs natural moisturizer, lubricant and protector. It has slight antibacterial activity, too. When people suffer from excessive dryness, it is due to decreased production of sebum, which is primarily composed of fatty acids.
The benefit of taking fish oil for facial skin tightening undoubtedly has to do with improving the skinâs moisture content, but something else must be going on, too. Researchers have yet to discern what that âsomethingâ is, but they have seen a 10% improvement in firmness after only three months of daily supplementation.
Other nutrients are important to beautiful facial skin, too. Protein is needed to build new cells and fibers. Vitamin C is a necessary co-factor for strong elastic fibers. Deficiency in the vitamins A or E is associated with acne, eczema and other unwanted conditions. So, we canât say that taking fish oil for facial skin will solve all of your problems. Itâs just a good idea.
Because of all of the other health benefits, which include a reduced risk of heart disease, type II diabetes, arthritis and other age-related conditions, supplementation is a really good idea. It might be possible to get enough vitamin A, C and E through diet alone. Itâs pretty easy to get enough protein, too. But, the modern diet has been stripped of omega-3 fat. Researchers believe that is the cause of what they refer to as âmodern illnessesâ.
Personally, I consider beautiful facial skin a bonus. My primary interests have to do with my long-term health. But, the short-term benefits have been important to me, too. Before I started taking fish oil for facial skin improvement, I frequently suffered from bouts of depression and anxiety, but not anymore. So, stop being skeptical! Look better and feel better with omega3 fish oil

Endowed with abilities and instincts far more advanced than any man, he is guided only by the desire to survive, and to feed. Dr. Terri Barnard knows something is wrong. Young women are being found abandoned, barely alive — only to then die from diseases so rare that they should be an impossibility. In each case, the victims are completely devoid of a single vital nutrient, as if they were literally stolen from their bodies. For while the killer appears as a model of physical perfection, his mind and body are tortured by the truth. With no identity and no past, all he knows is that he needs. He is a monstrous miracle of modern science set loose upon the world, and with him comes a hunger that will never be sated…. THE LESS YOU HAVE, THE MORE YOU WANT. |

The Nutritional Trace Metals $199.99 The Nutritional Trace Metals covers the roles played by trace metals in human metabolism, a relatively neglected area of human metabolism and nutrition. The book focuses its attention on the vital roles played by the relatively small number of trace metal nutrients as components of a wide range of functional proteins. Its structure and content are largely based on the approach adopted by the author, Professor Conor Reilly, during more than 30 years of teaching nutrition to a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate students. The introductory chapter covers the roles of metals in life processes, the metal content of living systems and metals in food and diets. This is followed by chapters, each dealing with an individual trace metal. Those discussed are iron, zinc, copper, selenium, chromium, manganese, molybdenum, nickel, boron, vanadium, cobalt, silicon and arsenic. In each case attention is given to the metal’s chemistry and metabolic roles, including absorption, transport, losses, status and essentiality, as well as the consequences both of deficiency and excess. The Nutritional Trace Metals is essential reading for nutritionists, dietitians and other health professionals, including physicians, who wish to know more about these vital components of the diet. The book will also be of value to food scientists, especially those involved in food fortification and pharmaceutical product formulation. It will be an invaluable reference volume in libraries of universities and research establishments involved in nutrition teaching and research. Conor Reilly is Emeritus Professor of Public Health at the Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Australia, and is also Visiting Professor of Nutrition at Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, U.K. |

Handbook of Minerals as Nutritional Supplements $149.95 This handbook provides a comprehensive presentation and interpretation of the current status of research on various mineral supplements. The author discusses the science behind each of the major minerals, the current research on the mineral’s ability to correct a deficiency in health and in sickness, and some of the popular claims made about the mineral. This book is the first book written by a university mineral researcher specifically for the biomedical research and professional health care community. Technical enough to satisfy a biomedical audience, the information avoids jargon used just by mineral specialists. Each chapter is set up with the same sub-headings, so that quick retrieval of information is easy. |
